Best PC Gaming Controller

Some games with the mouse and keyboard are not very troublesome to operate?

I believe this is a problem that bothers you, but the gaming controller solves this problem perfectly.

After playing some games with the gaming controller, I don’t want to hit the keyboard anymore. Today we recommend 3 handles for everyone, I believe you will love it as much as I have used it.

Quick Navigation:

1.Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller – Most Comfortable For Most hands

Sony DualShock 4

After long-term research and testing, we found that the Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller is the best PC gaming controller, which is very comfortable to use and responds very quickly.

The DualShock 4 (model CUH-ZCT2 released in late 2016) also has additional features not found in other controllers, such as a built-in rechargeable battery and a touchpad that simulates a mouse cursor.

The Sony DualShock 4 wireless controller (the newer CUH-ZCT2 model) is the best PC gaming controller for most people.

It can be comfortably stored for long periods of time, is responsive, can be connected via Bluetooth and a micro usb, and it works with Steam, where most PC players can play games on Steam.

There are also additional features that other controllers don’t have, such as a built-in rechargeable battery and a touchpad that simulates the mouse cursor.

It takes some extra effort to work with other Windows or macOS games, and its headphone jack doesn’t work on your computer, but for most people, these small drawbacks are relatively easy to solve.

The DualShock 4’s buttons, triggers and joysticks are easy to reach for most people, and they feel accurate, sensitive and satisfying regardless of the size of the hand.

Oriented position is attached to the left side of the controller, instead of the bottom center dualshock3 handle 4 is more comfortable than the Xbox-style controller uses a “retro” way 2 d game like hollow knight, round head, or “super meat ball kid, this still Is a great controller for 3D shooting and action games thanks to its smooth analog sticks and easy to reach triggers.

The rubber on the analog handle is more comfortable than the surface of the Xbox controller handle, and the shoulder button, trigger and steering plate feel stronger than the hollow handle of the Xbox controller.

DualShock 4 analog sticks

Steam added native support for DualShock 4 at the end of 2016, so it can now be applied to any Steam game that originally supported gamepad.

The controller can also navigate the global mode of steam, and there are even a few DualShock-specific settings you can tweak: you can configure the controller’s touchpad mouse cursor, work the rumble you can turn on and off, you can customize the colors And the light bar of the brightness controller.

If you don’t play a steam game (or if you like more flexibility), you can still install the DS4Windows app on Windows, and further customize how the controller works, making it work differently in different games (Mac users) The controller must be manually configured in each game, assuming an option).

But native Steam support should cover most PC gamers, and it ultimately provides Mac users with a simple, consistent way to use DualShock 4.

DualShock 4 is also expensive; you can almost always buy one for less than $50, and you can often find it for less than $40.

However, if you want a color other than black, you will spend more money – although basic colors like red and blue are usually not much more expensive than black, but newer and more exotic. The color should be close to $60 or $65.

You can use DualShock 4 via Bluetooth or a micro usb cable. To pair it with any computer via Bluetooth, press and hold the PlayStation and share the button until the light bar flashes.

This tiny usb connection allows you to use DualShock 4 on a computer without Bluetooth and charge the controller’s battery when you play the game. The DualShock 4 doesn’t have a micro usb cable, but if you don’t, you can buy a great one for a few dollars.

Although Steam’s DualShock 4 is now easier to use Sony’s controllers on PCs than it was a few years ago, the Xbox controllers are still better integrated with Windows, and you’re ready whether or not you use Steam.

And most games are still using the letter and color of the Xbox controller’s face button instead of Sony’s x○□△ tag, and if you’re not used to the game’s control scheme, you can more easily press the wrong button.

The controller’s headphone jack does not work properly in Windows or MacOS. When using cable TV, you can hear the sound in the headphones, but you can’t chat (in our tests, the headphones connected to the DualShock 4 tried to record the sound, but they heard the annoying low-pitched buzz).

When paired via Bluetooth, the headphone jack does nothing. If you want to use headphones, you need to connect the headphones directly to your computer. If you play games at your desk, this is not a big deal, but if you have a living room computer, this is annoying.

2. Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller – The Easiest To Use Controller

Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller

If your hand is bigger, if you don’t buy a lot of games through Steam, if you want more color customization options, or if you just like the Xbox controller, you might prefer Microsoft‘s Xbox wireless controller.

Microsoft made major improvements in its third-generation controller release, released in August 2016. The most striking thing is the addition of Bluetooth, so you can use the controller wirelessly on PCs and Macs without buying Separate dongle.

But the higher design of this controller makes all the buttons more difficult to operate, its analog stick is not very comfortable, and it also needs a battery box – or a Microsoft rechargeable battery box, you need extra Pay $25.

The controller’s ABXY button is attractive and responsive, the joystick slides smoothly, the slightly textured plastic on the front and back feels good, the controller has a satisfying weight and won’t fatigue your wrist or hand.

But the size of the Xbox One controller makes it a bit uncomfortable to use, even for my big hands.

The shiny plastic shoulder and trigger button are responsive, but not as strong as the Double Shock 4, and the rubber ring of each simulated stick is rougher than the evenly textured stick on the Double Shock 4 and is uncomfortable to touch.

Although the D-pad is very good and is click-through, it is located below and to the right of the main analog stick. If you are playing 2D games, it will be difficult to reach.

rough rubber rim

One of the biggest advantages of the Xbox One controller is that it is very simple to set up on a Windows system: just plug in the power and Windows can do the rest.

While the steam native support Xbox one controller and the dualshock3 handle 4 renders this meaningless, if you buy your game in steam, if you happen to like to buy games from a Microsoft store or elsewhere, you might be easier with the Xbox controller.

Many games (including Steam games) also use Xbox’s button labels on the interface, no matter which controller you use, which makes the tutorial easier to learn and the control scheme easier to learn.

If you have a Mac and most of the games are done via the Steam platform, then you don’t need any extra software to use the Xbox One controller – whether you are pairing via Bluetooth or via a USB cable, this unit Steam integration works well.

If you don’t use steam and a specific game won’t be used locally on the Xbox controller, the 360 controller software makes the controller with macOS and gives you some other controller-customization options (a caveat-the software doesn’t work if your controller passes Bluetooth pairing, only on USB or Microsoft’s dedicated controller dongle).

Like the DualShock 4, the new Xbox One controller can be connected to your computer via Bluetooth or a micro usb cable; it no longer requires a Microsoft $25 dongle to connect wirelessly to a PC.

Enter Bluetooth pairing mode, press the Xbox button to turn the controller on, then keep the sync button on top of the controller for 3 seconds.

During the test, we played the game on Bluetooth without any problems, but there are some warnings: your computer needs to run Windows 10 anniversary update or update, Microsoft said that only one Xbox one controller can be connected via Bluetooth at a time, the controller’s headset plug The hole does not work.

Connect the micro usb cable or use Microsoft’s wireless adapter to fix all of these issues.

The white or black version of the Xbox One is usually priced between $40 and $50, while the more exotic colors are priced between $50 and $70.

But if you like colored controllers and don’t mind spending more, the Xbox Design Lab allows you to choose custom colors for almost every part of the controller, including front, back, shoulder buttons, triggers, arrow keys, and analog sticks. – Microsoft provides some templates to get started, or you can jump and start coloring right away.

Prices start at $80, but if you want something special, like a screen-printed NFL logo, the price can exceed $100.

One reason to choose one of the Xbox controllers / dualshock3 handles 4 may be battery life-evidence indicating that it consumes less power than the dualshock3 handle 4, and Microsoft’s gaming and charging devices or a pair of good rechargeable AA batteries will provide more play. Time is more than the internal battery of the dualshock3 handle 4.

But the DualShock 4 can last for 8 to 10 hours on a single charge, and because its battery is built-in, you don’t need to spend more money to get a rechargeable controller.

3. AmazonBasics Xbox One Wired Controller – The Most Affordable Controller

AmazonBasics Xbox One Wired Controller

If you want to save money and don’t mind buying a wire, the AmazonBasics Xbox One Wired Controller will provide you with most of the features of the Microsoft version at about half the price.

Its analog sticks and buttons are comfortable enough for hours of gaming sessions, and because it’s compatible with the Xbox One, it leverages the Xbox-controller support built into Windows and Steam (and you can use the same The tool makes it work well with macOS).

It does feel cheaper than the official version, its vibration is not so strong, and the headphone jack can make a small sound, but in general, it is a reliable deal.

The design of the Amazon controller is similar to the official Xbox One controller, so if you find that the gamepad is uncomfortable, you will have the same complaints about this controller.

But all the buttons, shoulder buttons and triggers are responsive and feel as good or better than the other budget controllers we tested.

The analog stick and D-pad are as smooth and precise as Microsoft’s, but Amazon’s controllers also use rough plastic around the analog sticks, making them less useful than the sticks on the DualShock 4.

The buttons on the shoulders are particularly loud and awkward, but they may not be enough to make most people bored.

Most of the shortcomings of Amazon controllers are the same as those of any inexpensive controller. Compared to the official Microsoft controller, Amazon’s controller feels lighter and the quilted texture on the back is not as smooth.

This vibration motor works well, but not as strong as Sony or Microsoft.

But we prefer to test other cheap controllers because it has a headphone jack (although it produces small sounds and a dull, quiet complaint anytime you don’t listen to other music or sound effects) because it is officially licensed with Microsoft Approved as it applies to Xbox addition to personal computers.

We also like the USB end of the controller cable – about 10 feet long, enough for most PC settings and the living room – to have a separate part.

It’s a bit too eager to get rid of other wires, which can cause some unintentional disconnection, but you’ll appreciate it for the first time someone stumbled on your cable.

Amazon’s controllers operate the same way as Microsoft’s official controllers when plugged into a PC or Mac-Windows, and Steam supports it locally, while the 360 controller software will work with any official Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller.

Amazon offers both black and white controllers – most budget controllers don’t give you any color choices, so it’s better than nothing – but you don’t get as many color choices as Sony or Microsoft.

How we tested

We tested all modern controllers on Windows desktops, Windows laptops and iMacs, including a variety of 2D and 3D games, including the re-populated first-person shooter Bioshock and precise and accurate 2D action games, Super Meat Boy and Cuphead.

This process gives us enough time to evaluate all the important analog sticks, d-pads, and trigger buttons, as well as consider how the controller feels in extending the game session.

For retro controllers, we insist on classic 2D platform games and action games such as Super Mario Bros 3, Super Metropolis and Mega Man x.

We tested each controller for at least an hour and played at least three hours with each selected controller in multiple games.

Who this is for

Not all PC games are suitable for keyboards and mice. If you would rather sit down and play your game with the controller, you should consider one of our options.

The controller is a highly personalized object and your preferences may vary depending on your hand size, game style and operating system.

If you already have an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 console and are happy with the controller it comes with, you probably don’t need to buy a different one.

Most wireless controllers use Bluetooth to connect to a PC, just like a wireless keyboard or wireless headset.

All mac computers and almost all Windows laptops have Bluetooth capabilities, but the gaming desktop may not. If you need to add Bluetooth technology to your desktop, we recommend using a built-in PCI Express card with a good antenna instead of one of the many inexpensive USB ports.

In our tests, after a few minutes of gaming, the small USB dongle became sluggish and inconsistent. If you can’t (or don’t want to) add Bluetooth to your desktop, our choice can also use the micro usb cable.

What kind of game controller to choose, the first depends on what type of game you like to play, and the second is personal habit. Today we recommend 3 gaming controllers, each with its own characteristics, I hope this can help you.
